Fully funded Master’s Degree in Renewable Energy in the Marine Environment Scholarship

The scholarship is available for a Full Master’s Degree in Renewable Energy in the Marine Environment 

The Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree (EMJMD) in Renewable Energy in the Marine Environment (REM) is offered by four universities.

• University of the Basque Country
• University of Strathclyde
• Norwegian University of Science and Technology
• École Centrale de Nantes These partner universities jointly engage in the overall execution and development of the master.

Each center is responsible for running the program at its own institution.

The European Union’s Erasmus program supports the master’s degree.

Master of Science in Renewable Energy in the Marine Environment About REM

Renewable energy is becoming increasingly important.

Renewable energy contributes significantly towards a more sustainable energy system by creating a more autonomous power structure and helping to reduce global warming and climate change.

Offshore renewable energy has great potential, but it presents a major technological challenge.

The adverse conditions offshore necessitate advanced specific skills in various scientific and technological fields, and this industry necessitates specially trained professionals.

The REM master’s goal is to equip specialists with the necessary skills to complete this technological challenge.

This master’s program equips students in the evaluation, development, simulation, analysis, and exploitation of all available energy in the marine environment, in addition to the project development of reliable, safe, and efficient marine energy generation plants, including operations and maintenance prototype and research of the plants’ integration into the electric system.

The master’s program is offered entirely in English by professors from the University of the Basque Country, Ecole Centrale de Nantes (France), NTNU (Norway), Strathclyde University (UK), as well as professionals from the supporting companies and institutes.

Furthermore, the master provides the opportunity to complete the master’s thesis in any of the supporting entities, as well as a number of scholarships.

Scholarships for a Full Master’s Degree in Renewable Energy in the Marine Environment

There will be 20 Erasmus Mundus available scholarships for non-EU students, and 8 for EU students in the next cohort.

A full scholarship for non-EU students includes the following benefits:

• Full tuition fees (9000€ per year)

• A health insurance policy (worth 500€ per year)

• A monthly allowance of 1000€ for living costs

• Travel costs (3000€ per year – lump sum)

A comprehensive scholarship for Degree holders includes

• full tuition fees (4000€ per year)

• travel costs: 1000€ per year

• health insurance 500€ per year.

• A monthly allowance of 1000€ per month for living expenses

Consortium Scholarships

• The consortium scholarships is provided to both EU and non-EU applicants who apply for the course.

The total intake and amount of scholarships will be determined by the availability of funds.

• Scholarship will be distributed based on the quality of the candidate’s CV and enthusiasm.

• No full scholarship is awarded.

We would rather give out partial scholarships to many students than full scholarships to a few.

The Consortium scholarship (Erasmus Mundus) may include (one or two, but not all of the following):

• Tuition fees (up to 9000€ per year for two years).

• Monthly living and housing allowance (200-300€).

• Complimentary health insurance.

• Travel expenses: up to 500€

Academic Scholarship

Academic scholarships are offered to successful applicants.

These Erasmus Mundus scholarships will cover a portion of tuition fees, as well as approximately 500€ per month for EU students and 850€ per month for non-EU students.

• Supplementary scholarships may be available depending on the program’s country and other factors.
